In-house big data and analytics platform

Challenge

Blastworks needed an in-house big data and analytics platform — not a patchwork of vendor tools — so the team could collect product events, process them at scale, and run ad campaigns from numbers they owned.

What we did

We designed and built the platform end to end: a custom SDK for event collection, a Go backend, Kafka for streaming, and ELK plus Amazon EMR on AWS for processing and search. BI and orchestration used Tableau, Metabase, and Airflow. We integrated Adjust, CleverTap, and Leanplum, and analyzed the data so the team could run and optimize ad campaigns. DevOps ran on Ansible; infrastructure costs were cut by using AWS Spot instances. Custom dashboards for the sales team and stakeholders were built with React, Python, and Go.

Outcome

The team owned analytics in-house, could make data-driven decisions on ad spend, and ran the stack at lower AWS cost.
